Lapa Rios Ecolodge

Set in a private nature reserve spread over 1,000 acres of Central America’s last remaining lowland tropical rainforest in Costa Rica, Lapa Rios Ecolodge overlooks the pristine point where the Golfo Dulce meets the wild Pacific Ocean, a destination matching everyone’s idea of paradise.

Lapa Rios was designed in harmony with the surrounding forest and beach environment. The main lodge and bungalows line three ridges and are connected by walking paths and steps. Built over 350 feet above the sea, Lapa Rios catches the cooling tropical ocean and forests breezes.

The main lodge and the Brisa Azul restaurant soar 50 feet above the sea and, like the private 16 bungalows, are built of locally harvested materials and have intricately woven palm thatched roofs. Climb the lodge’s three-story circular stairway to overlook the forest canopy and breathtaking ocean vistas. Comfortable, locally made bamboo furniture and huge private decks aid relaxation amidst pristine nature.

Lapa Rios Ecolodge is offering green season specials:

  •     July 1st through August 31st, 2010 – Kids stay and eat for free
  •     September 1st through November 20th – Stay 4 nights, pay only 3

ARENAL VOLCANO IS STILL GROWING, July 4, 2008

At the north end of the Arsenal volcano, in the northern part of Costa Rica, lava was seen flowing from the side of the volcano. This means only one thing: An eruption may soon occur.

This is according to Eliecer Durante, a volcanologist of the Volcanic and Seismologic Watch Group of Costa Rica. Tier headquarters are located at the National University of Costa Rica.

He also commented that the volcano, located nearby Arsenal hill, is about forty years old.
Also, according to him, the volcano is in its growing stage, growing up and big, but the crater’s not growing.

The process is being done by making the rocks growing longer, by the rock tentacles, when cooled. After this, the newly formed rock becomes a part of the volcano.

He also commented on the growth of the Arsenal volcano, comparing it to a tube of toothpaste that is squeezed until a bit of the toothpaste exits and flows over.
The shifts inside of the volcano are made up of hard, gray matter, volcanic rock, and the a few metals. The metals consist of iron, magnesium, and silicon.

Finally, Durante remarked that the volcano is not exploding, but is growing, and the tourists who are nearby are in no danger what so ever, since the activity is in the northwestern part of the volcano.
